A children led system of self management
In a democratic classroom students work together with their peers to create their classroom procedures. This encourages students to think critically about the things that they would want to see in their classroom.
Using this method aligns with my teaching philosophy of providing my students with an authentic learning environment. The students will be able to take the skills gained by participating in a democratic classroom such as: critical thinking and collaborative skills and apply them to different settings outside of my classroom
Our Classroom Contract
We work together as a class to create the rules for our classroom contract
I hang our contract on the wall in my classroom so my students can see it
For the families, I make a copy of the class contract to go home with the student's Binder
We all have a voice
How would you want your classmates to treat you?
What are you willing to give to this class?
What do you expect from me?
To keep my students accountable I will have them and their family members sign the contract at the beginning of the year
